“We were disliked by the press in the early days because they couldn’t put their finger on us, and that was the case with Zeppelin as well”. Freddie Mercury

“I think music is about our internal life. It’s part of the way people touch each other. That’s very precious to me. And astronomy is, in a sense, the very opposite thing. Instead of looking inwards, you are looking out, to things beyond our grasp”. Brian May

Freddie Mercury wrote this song after seeing a painting by the same name and an accompanying poem by Richard Dadd. Queen’s song makes reference to the characters in the poem, which follows the medieval theme of the album. Like the painting, Queen’s production is similarly complex on this song. Check out the painting in Song Images. (Scott – O’Fallon, MO)

“I got my diploma from Ealing College of Art, in graphics and illustration”. Freddie Mercury

“I think my melodies are superior to my lyrics”. Freddie Mercury

“We’re a very expensive group; we break a lot of rules. It’s unheard of to combine opera with a rock theme, my dear” . Freddie Mercury

Although this song obviously addresses the concept of the sense of relief one might feel when they finally stop worrying about seemingly unimportant things, it also seems to be directed at people that spend a great deal of thought, time and energy in trying to be something they are not, in essence “putting on airs”. The clever lyric, “dressed as lamb instead of mutton”, poetically makes that point via the use of a simile. ~JFV (5/16/08)~

“There is no way that you can ever really repeat something. I have this great belief that the magic of the moment can never be recaptured”. Brian May

Heart‏

We search our hearts
To justify the reason
And draw the line
To meet somewhere halfway
If faith is blind
Through darkness it will guide us
`Cause the spirit still remains
With the keepers of the flame

“Heart has always been a rock band. It’s always been hard-rock”. Ann Wilson

“Back when we were first making records, you didn’t just make the music, you put a great deal of energy into the way it looked, and every word that was written on the whole thing”. Ann Wilson

Go to the city away from the land, stand in a line
Where they stamp your hand, wind up at a dance
You want to energize, is it just by chance?
People have electric eyes

Wires and strings, line that lead to power supplies
Games read green on table screens, charged and powered
Mediaized, we are channeled, we are hypnotized

Wake up, shake up the situation
Hold on, help the situation
Human condition, so extreme
You can see it feeding the new machine

There is still a dream, our humanity, hero rebels die
Leaving us the key
Wake up, shake up the situation
Hold on, help the situation

“You have to also provide a video for it, look a certain way and big hair… If you’re a woman it’s even more strange with fake fingernails and corsets and all this stuff that was big in the 80s”. Ann Wilson
